What is BULATS?: The Business Language Testing Service.
- BULATS is a language assessment service which ranks language ability specifically for the use of companies and organisations.
- BULATS tests the language skills of employees who need to use a foreign language in their work, as well as students and employees on language or professional courses.
Target Language Provides:
- relevant and reliable language tests in a work context
- test administration suited to the client company's individual requirements
- rapid test results
- interpretation of test results
- advice to companies on appropriate strategies for language testing, assessing language needs (language auditing) and training.
The BULATS Tests
BULATS provides a range of independent tests which can be used individually or grouped as necessary to meet specific needs:
- The Computer Test: a fast, accurate test of listening and reading skills
- The Standard Test: a paper-based alternative to the computer test
- The Speaking Test: face-to-face evaluation of speaking skills
- The Writing Test: thorough evaluation of writing skills in a business context
Target Language can provide the above tests in English, French, and Spanish.
The BULATS test is practical, and covers areas including:

- reports
- phone messages
- business correspondence
- presentations.
Preparing for BULATS
- Target Language has a qualified BULATS examiner on staff, and the programme offered is one of the few comprehensive preparation courses for the BULATS using new material provided by Cambridge ESOL (English as a Second Overseas Language) in Sao Paulo.
- Target Language will recommend how many modules of this course are necessary in order to sit the test.
